The Mantra of Medicine Buddha is said to benefit the healing of physical illness and mental distress. It is also good for ripening the minds of animals, ie: bringing them closer to higher rebirths and positive states of mind. It is good also to recite then blow on meat, if you are not vegetarian, as it creates a positive connection between you and the animal as well as blessing it, making it more likely to have positive conditions in the future.
The Mantra can be recited 'straight', by chanting or done in this musical way. Even silently to yourself.
